The First
Birthday Party: A Memorable Event!
It is a milestone celebration
when baby turns one year old and parents are so ecstatic to be able to
plan baby’s first birthday party. Planning a first birthday party is
more for the parents because at this stage, baby has not really
developed many friends and may not even remember the celebration, so in
planning a party for your little one, take into consideration what kind
of cake your baby likes, what kind of games he or she and other children
their age might like to play and also where to have baby’s first
birthday party.

Planning the party
The first birthday party is a
celebration of baby becoming a toddler who is now able to stand and walk
on their own, they are starting to become independent and develop their
own little characteristics, and parents want to plan a party in
celebration of their little one growing from a baby to a toddler and
being able to maneuver into the “big” people’s world. When planning the
first birthday party, make sure you have some help from family members
or some of the parents who will be at the party so that you won’t be so
overwhelmed.
The very first thing you need to
do is make a list of the guests that you are inviting to the party.
There is no need to make a very long guest list. You could invite maybe
4 or 5 children to the party that are the same age as your child. Too
many children will cause a lot of congestions and will tend to take away
the attention that is showered on the guest of honor.
You can also invite relatives
that play a very big part in your child’s life like grand- and
great-grandparents and older siblings. You also still have to choose the
design for the party invitations, party favors and games, and get the
invitations sent out in plenty enough time for your guests to respond so
that you will know how many people will be attending your baby’s first
birthday party.
A good invitation design would be
a cartoon character that your little one loves to watch on TV. For
boys, they usually like Cars or Spiderman and even SpongeBob. The young
ladies usually drift toward The Little Mermaid, Cinderella and some may
even like SpongeBob also.
What to eat
The next step in planning the
first birthday party is to know what flavors and foods your toddler will
like to eat at the party. Young children have a tendency to be very
picky eaters and they do not like a lot of the foods that grownups eat.
Finger foods are best for toddlers like hot dogs that are cut up into
pieces, fruit that is cut into chunks, mostly anything that can be cut
into chunks that your child can grab between their fingers.
In choosing a cake for your
child, it is good to stay with the theme that you chose for the
invitations. Children tend to lean toward a white or yellow cake with a
white frosting and their favorite character on top. The frosting should
be light and not too thick or too sweet. If your little boy likes
trains, cars or animals, try to stick with that them for the cake, games
and the party decorations. If your little princess likes dolls, animals
or even a well-known cartoon character, try to build the cake and
decorations around that.
What kind of games to play
At this age, children really
could care less about what they play with. Children can get a cereal or
cracker box and find ways to keep themselves occupied for hours. It is
the adults who are really into the games, so plan for some really fun
games to keep the adults occupied, while you can still use a couple of
traditional party games for your baby’s first birthday party.
Try the Bottle Bowling game where
you fill up bottles and line them up as you would the pins for bowling.
To anchor them, fill them with some rice in the bottom. Each child will
take a turn throwing a ball at the bottles, trying to knock them down.
Another fun game is Take a Guess. Take a Guess is where you take a jar,
not very large and fill it will cereal, jellybeans, or M&Ms.

Make sure to count how much is in
there before you start the game. Give each guest a piece of paper with
their name on it and let them guess how many pieces are in the jar and
have them to write it on the piece of paper. Whoever guesses closest to
the count wins the prize.
Baby’s first birthday party
should be fun for all at the party, but more so, they should be the
center of attention and have the most fun at their party. The next time
you have to plan baby’s first birthday party, there are so many books
with wonderful suggestions and ideas, and you can even go online to find
different ideas for your baby’s first birthday party. It’s all about
having fun!
