First Birthday Party

Planning A Perfect First Birthday Party

All parents understand the importance of a child’s first birthday, it is a time for family and friends to join together to celebrate this momentous occasion. For some parents planning the perfect first birthday party can be difficult as they want to make sure that the party is a success. To make planning a first birthday party easier here are some ideas to create baby’s first birthday party and make it one to remember.

To begin with it is a good idea to decide on the number of guests that you plan on inviting. For a first birthday party you do not want to go overboard with the number of people that you invite. Too many people at a party like this can overwhelm your child and make them unsettled. So it is wise to only invite close family members and friends. Also try to limit the number of children at a party like this to around 5.

Next it is time to think about the food that you are going to be serving. If you have more adults than children you will naturally want to cater in larger amounts for adults. Serve finger food such as small sandwiches, pieces of fruit and vegetables and a few sweet treats for the children. Every first birthday party will involve food of some kind, but you do not have to make this too lavish. You will also need to arrange for a 1st birthday party cake to be made, so sort this out well in advance of the party.

You will also want to think about first birthday party decorations that will look good on the day. Some people like to go for a theme, so think about anything that your child particularly likes or something that is easy to arrange. Think about a number 1 theme, or maybe pink decorations for a girl and blue for a boy. Or you might want to go for a jungle theme or so on. To do this, simply buy decorations that fit in with your chosen theme. Then send out invitations that involve the theme so that people know what to expect at the first birthday party.

Getting the length of a first birthday party right can also be a difficult task. To ensure that your child (and the other children you have invited) do not get tired aim to start the party at around 2.00pm and have it go on for 1 -1 ½ hours. Any more than this and you will run the risk of the children at the first birthday party becoming tired and cranky. You should also try to have the first birthday party on a weekend day as this will not interfere with any of the older children’s school times.

Games are another important aspect of a first birthday party and you should certainly include some. Think about games that are age appropriate so think about dancing and singing type games for the younger children and something a little more advanced for older children. Pass the parcel and pin the tail on the donkey are great fun for children aged 3 and over.

Finally make sure that you relax during the first birthday party. There might be a few mishaps and accidents as children drop food and drinks, but you should be prepared for this. Keep the atmosphere fun and inviting and everyone at the party will have a wonderful time and you will create happy memories of this milestone birthday.

Now that you know a little more about planning a first birthday party you should be able to do this with ease.
